Kazakh Elena Rybakina, the No 7 seed, beat Czech Marketa Vondrousova 6-3, 6-3 to advance to the last eight of the Italian Open at the Foro Italico in Rome on Monday.
Rybakina, ranked No 6, will play the winner of the match between Pole Iga Swiatek, the top seed, and Croat Donna Vekic, the No 21 seed, next.
Ahead of her victory, the Kazakh won against Italian Jasmine Paolini (7-6 (4), 6-1) and Russian Anna Kalinskaya (4-3 ret.).
Vondrousova, ranked No 70, won against Estonian Kaia Kanepi (6-0, 4-6, 6-2), Canadian Bianca Andreescu, the No 24 seed (6-0, 6-1) and Greek Maria Sakkari, the No 9 seed (7-5, 6-3) in the previous rounds of the Rome tournament.
