American McCartney Kessler, the top seed, moved into the quarter-finals of the L’Open 35 de Saint Malo by defeating French wildcard Tiantsoa Rakotomanga Rajaonah 7-6 (6), 6-1 on Wednesday afternoon.
Kessler, ranked No 43, will play the winner of the match between Frenchwoman Chloe Paquet and Swiss Viktorija Golubic, the No 7 seed, next.
The American won against French qualifier Yara Bartashevich (6-4, 6-1) in the previous round.
In the previous round, Rakotomanga Rajaonah, ranked No 246, won against qualifier Tessah Andrianjafitrimo (3-6, 6-4, 6-1).
