Madrid Open: Keys beats Kalinskaya to avenge recent Charleston loss

Australian Open champion Madison Keys, the No 5 seed, moved into the last 16 of the Madrid Open by winning against Russian Anna Kalinskaya, the No 30 seed, 7-5, 7-6 (3) at the Caja Mágica on Saturday.

The win avenged a recent loss to Kalinskaya in Charleston for Keys, who now leads their overall head-to-head 2-1

Keys, ranked No 5 in the world, will play the winner of the match between Croat Donna Vekic, the No 19 seed, and fellow American Emma Navarro, the No 11 seed, next.

In the previous round of the tournament, Keys beat Italian Lucia Bronzetti (6-4, 6-3) while Kalinskaya, ranked No 29, defeated French qualifier Diane Parry (7-6 (4), 6-4).
