Madrid Open: Swiatek makes third round

Pole Iga Swiatek, the top seed, won against Chinese Xiyu Wang 6-1, 6-4 to advance to the third round of the Madrid Open at the Caja Magica on Thursday evening.
Seven-time clay court champion Swiatek, ranked No 1, will face Romanian Sorana Cirstea, the No 27 seed, next.
Wang, ranked No 52, beat Romanian Ana Bogdan (6-7 (5), 7-6 (4), 6-2) in the previous round of the Madrid tournament.
