Australian qualifier Maya Joint advanced to the last 16 of the Makarska Open by beating Croat Antonia Ruzic 6-1, 6-1 on Wednesday.

Joint, ranked No 192, will face Slovak Anna Karolina Schmiedlova, the No 3 seed, next.
