Colombian qualifier Emiliana Arango reached the last 16 of the Mérida Open Akron by winning against Argentinian lucky loser Maria Lourdes Carle 6-2, 6-3 on Tuesday.
Arango, ranked No 133, will play the winner of the match between Egyptian Mayar Sherif and qualifier Francesca Jones next.
