Russian Anna Kalinskaya won the Midland Open tournament by defeating Croat Jana Fett 7-5, 6-4 at the Greater Midland Tennis Center on Sunday evening.
Kalinskaya, ranked No 115, beat Heather Watson (6-4, 6-4), Tatiana Prozorova (6-3, 7-5), American Hailey Baptiste (7-6 (4), 4-6, 7-6 (5)) and American Alycia Parks, the No 3 seed (3-6, 7-6 (3), 6-3) earlier in the tournament.
In the previous rounds of the Midland tournament, Fett, ranked No 198, beat Dutchwoman Arianne Hartono (7-5, 6-0), Canadian Rebecca Marino (5-7, 6-3, 6-2), American Taylor Townsend, the No 4 seed (W/O) and American Emma Navarro, the top seed (3-6, 6-1, 6-4).
