Minnen races past Lamens into Austin quarter-finals
Greet Minnen eased past Suzan Lamens in straight sets on Thursday in Austin. Minnen awaits either Caroline Dolehide or Varvara Gracheva in the quarter-finals.
Greet Minnen moved into the last eight of the Austin Open by winning against Dutchwoman Suzan Lamens, the No 8 seed, 6-1, 6-0 at the Westwood Country Club on Thursday evening.
Minnen, ranked No 92, will next face the winner of a match between American Caroline Dolehide and Frenchwoman Varvara Gracheva.
The Belgian previously defeated Chinese qualifier Sijia Wei (5-7, 6-3, 6-2).
In the previous round of the Austin tournament, Lamens — ranked No 67 — edged out Russian Kamilla Rakhimova (1-6, 6-3, 6-4).
