Argentinian Julia Riera, the No 4 seed, moved into the last 8 of the Montevideo Open by winning against Ipek Oz 4-6, 6-4, 6-3 at the Carrasco Lawn Tennis Club.
Riera, ranked No 148, defeated Brazilian Carolina M. Alves (6-3, 6-1) in the previous round of the Uruguayan tournament.
In the first round of the Uruguayan tournament, Oz, ranked No 241, edged out American Jamie Loeb (2-6, 6-1, 6-4).
