Open d’Angers: Kalinina books spot in semi-finals

Anhelina Kalinina won against Clara Tauson 7-6 (3), 6-4 on Friday. She’ll play German Anna-Lena Friedsam in the next round

Ukrainian Anhelina Kalinina, the second seed, advanced to the semi-finals of the Open d’Angers by defeating Dane Clara Tauson 7-6 (3), 6-4 at Arena Loire in Trélazé on Friday afternoon.

Kalinina, ranked No 53, will play German Anna-Lena Friedsam next.

The Ukrainian won against American Katrina Scott (6-1, 6-2) and American wildcard Sofia Kenin (6-4, 6-4) ahead of her victory.

Earlier in the tournament, Tauson, ranked No 132, won against German wildcard Sabine Lisicki (6-1, 6-1) and Russian Anna Blinkova, the No 6 seed (7-5, 6-3).
