Slovak Anna Karolina Schmiedlova, the No 4 seed, won against Italian wildcard Giorgia Pedone 6-3, 6-0 to advance to the last eight of the Parma Ladies Open presented by Iren on Wednesday afternoon.
Schmiedlova, ranked No 67, will play qualifier Jesika Maleckova next.
In the previous round, the Slovak defeated Hungarian Dalma Galfi (6-3, 7-6 (5)).
Pedone, ranked No 270, beat American Alycia Parks (6-4, 7-6 (5)) in the 32.
