American Hailey Baptiste, the No 7 seed, defeated Argentinian Martina Capurro Taborda 6-1, 6-3 to move into the last 16 of the Puerto Vallarta Open on Tuesday evening.
Baptiste, ranked No 114, will face the winner of the match between Frenchwoman Carole Monnet and Belarusian qualifier Iryna Shymanovich next.
