Czech wildcard Linda Fruhvirtova edged out Australian Daria Saville 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 to move into the last eight of the Puerto Vallarta Open on Wednesday.
Fruhvirtova, who reached the third in Miami last week as a qualifier and is currently ranked No 215, will play the winner of the match between qualifier Priscilla Hon and second seed Maya Joint next.
In the previous round, Fruhvirtova benefited from a walkover of American Hailey Baptiste, the No 8 seed.
Saville, ranked No 105, defeated Olivia Gadecki (4-6, 6-4, 6-1) in the round of 32.
