San Diego Open: Sixth seed Kostyuk through to second round

Ukraine’s Marta Kostyuk, the No 6 seed, reached the second round of the San Diego Open by defeating American qualifier Ann Li 6-4, 4-6, 6-2 at the Barnes Tennis Center on Tuesday.

Kostyuk, ranked No 34, will face the winner of the match between Australian wildcard Taylah Preston and Pole Magdalena Frech next.
