Brazilian Laura Pigossi, the No 8 seed, advanced to the quarter-finals of the San Luis Potosi Open by winning against American Katrina Scott 6-3, 6-1 on Thursday evening.
Pigossi, ranked No 102, will face Slovenian Kaja Juvan next.
The Brazilian defeated Andrea Gamiz (4-6, 6-1, 6-2) ahead of her victory.
In the previous round, Scott, ranked No 162, won against Whitney Osuigwe (6-0, 6-3).
