Former world No 3 Elina Svitolina, of Ukraine, advanced to the quarter-finals of the Strasbourg Open after Kiwi lucky loser Erin Routliffe withdrew before the match at the Tennis Club de Strasbourg on Wednesday.
Elina Svitolina will face the winner of the match between Russian Varvara Gracheva, the No 6 seed, and Frenchwoman Selena Janicijevic in the last eight.
The Ukrainian had won against American Louisa Chirico (6-4, 7-6 (1)) in the first round.
In the previous round of the Strasbourg tournament, Erin Routliffe defeated qualifier Su-Wei Hsieh (7-6 (2), 1-6, 6-1).
