Stuttgart Open: Pegula makes last eight
Jessica Pegula won against Magdalena Frech 6-1, 6-1 on Thursday. She’ll face Ekaterina Alexandrova in the next round

American Jessica Pegula, the No 3 seed, moved into the last eight of the Stuttgart Open by defeating Pole Magdalena Frech 6-1, 6-1 at the Porsche-Arena on Thursday.
Pegula is now unbeaten in all three previous meetings against Frech.
This was her 26th match win thus far in 2025, the most on the WTA tour.
Pegula, ranked No 3, will play Ekaterina Alexandrova next.
“It was just kind of one of those days where I was just seeing everything very clear,” Pegula said in her press conference afterwards. “Everything that I wanted to do, I was able to execute, which, you know, that’s not always possible or the case.
“It was working, so I think just strategy-wise I was able to execute what I needed to do very quickly, and luckily that, yeah, helped me out the whole match.”
Frech, ranked No 28, edged out Italian lucky loser Sara Errani (7-5, 4-6, 7-6 (5)) in the previous round of the Stuttgart tournament.
