Belarusian Aliaksandra Sasnovich, the No 7 seed, defeated Frenchwoman Alize Cornet, the No 8 seed, 6-7 (5), 7-5, 6-3 to reach the final of the Tennis in the Land at Cleveland’s iconic Jacobs Pavilion at Nautica in Flats West Bank on Friday evening.

Sasnovich, ranked No 36, will play the winner of the match between American Bernarda Pera and Russian Liudmila Samsonova next.

The Belarusian won against Serb Aleksandra Krunic (7-6 (5), 6-1), Spaniard Sara Sorribes Tormo (4-6, 6-3, 6-3) and American Madison Brengle (6-4, 6-1) in the previous rounds.

Earlier in the tournament, Cornet, ranked No 37, beat Ukrainian Dayana Yastremska (6-2, 6-1), Dane Clara Tauson (6-3, 7-6 (1)) and Chinese Shuai Zhang (6-4, 6-2).
