Thoreau Open: Vandeweghe books spot in second round

Coco Vandeweghe won against Alycia Parks 6-4, 6-4 on Monday and will face the winner of the match between German Eva Lys and Russian Kamilla Rakhimova, the No 8 seed, in the next round

Wildcard Coco Vandeweghe moved into the second round of the Thoreau Open by winning against Alycia Parks 6-4, 6-4 at Thoreau Tennis club in Concord on Monday.

Vandeweghe, ranked No 192, will face the winner of the match between German Eva Lys and Russian Kamilla Rakhimova, the No 8 seed, next.
