Astra Sharma lifted the trophy on Sunday against Sara Errani
Australian Astra Sharma lifted the Tiriac Foundation Trophy trophy by defeating Italian Sara Errani, the No 4 seed, 0-6, 7-5, 6-2 on Sunday.
In the previous rounds, Sharma, ranked No 216, beat Swiss Ylena In-Albon (6-2, 6-1), Romanian Ana Bogdan, the top seed (6-7 (2), 7-6 (3), 7-5), Hungarian Anna Bondar, the No 5 seed (4-6, 6-3, 7-5) and Romanian Jaqueline Cristian, the No 3 seed (6-2, 2-6, 6-2).
Errani, ranked No 115, defeated Dutch lucky loser Suzan Lamens (6-0, 6-2), Romanian qualifier Maria Sara Popa (6-4, 6-1), German Noma Noha Akugue, the No 7 seed (7-5, 6-2) and Latvian Darja Semenistaja, the No 8 seed (6-3, 6-3) earlier in the tournament.
