Tokyo Open: Rybakina makes quarter-finals
Elena Rybakina defeated Leylah Fernandez 6-4, 6-3 on Thursday night. She’ll face Canadian Victoria Mboko, the No 9 seed, in the next round

Kazakh Elena Rybakina, the second seed, moved into the quarter-finals of the Tokyo Open by defeating Canadian Leylah Fernandez 6-4, 6-3 at the Ariake Coliseum on Thursday morning.
Rybakina, ranked No 7, will face Canadian Victoria Mboko, the No 9 seed, next.
In the previous round of the Tokyo tournament, Fernandez, ranked No 33, won against Greek qualifier Maria Sakkari (7-6 (5), 6-4).
