Vancouver Open: Peterson moves into last eight

Swede Rebecca Peterson, the No 5 seed, advanced to the quarter-finals of the Vancouver Open after American qualifier Catherine Harrison withdrew before the match on Thursday night at Hollyburn Country Club.

Peterson, ranked No 87, will play the winner of the match between Australian Maddison Inglis and Chinese Xinyu Wang, the No 4 seed, next.

Ahead of her victory, the Swede defeated Slovak Anna Karolina Schmiedlova (6-2, 6-2).

Harrison, ranked No 251, won against Greek Despina Papamichail (6-1, 6-3) in the previous round.
