Eight months after having right knee surgery, Donna Vekic is a WTA title-winner once again.
The 25-year-old Croat saw off Danish teenager Clara Tauson 7-6 (3), 6-2 after a one-hour, 46-minute battle to win the title in the WTA 250 event in Courmayeur.
It’s been a long wait between titles for Vekic, whose last win came in Nottingham in 2017. After taking the first set on the tiebreak on Sunday, she pulled away to deny Tauson a third title in 2021 and clinch her third WTA Tour title.
