Veneto Open: Montgomery moves into semi-finals

American Robin Montgomery defeated Belgian Ysaline Bonaventure, the No 3 seed, 6-4, 6-2 to move into the last four of the Veneto Open at the Tennis Club Gaiba on Friday evening.
Montgomery, ranked No 162, will play American Ashlyn Krueger next.
Ahead of her victory, the 18-year-old American edged out No 5 seed Taylor Townsend (4-6, 6-4, 7-6 (4)) and won against Brazilian Laura Pigossi (6-0, 6-7 (3), 6-0).
Bonaventure, ranked No 93, edged out Spaniard Marina Bassols Ribera (6-7 (4), 6-2, 6-4) and won against Italian Nuria Brancaccio (6-2, 6-2) earlier in the tournament.
