Rogers gets a Cincinnati walkover from Anisimova

Shelby Rogers benefited from the withdrawal of Amanda Anisimova on Wednesday in Cincinnati. Rogers is through to face either Aryna Sabalenka or Anna Kalinskaya.

Wildcard Shelby Rogers reached the last 16 of the Western & Southern Open after Amanda Anisimova withdrew before the match on Wednesday.

Rogers, ranked No 30, will face the winner of the match between Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka, the No 6 seed, and Russian qualifier Anna Kalinskaya next.

In the previous round of the Cincy Open, Shelby Rogers won against wildcard Sofia Kenin (6-2, 6-1).

Anisimova, ranked No 23, beat Russian Daria Kasatkina, the No 9 seed (6-4, 6-4) during the first round of the Cincy Open.
