Top seed Ons Jabeur will not be holding up the trophy in her home tournament this weekend after she was beaten 6-3, 4-6, 6-4 by American Claire Liu in the quarter-finals of the Jasmin Open in Tunisia.

Liu, ranked No 73, will play the winner of the match between Japanese qualifier Moyuka Uchijima and Belgian Elise Mertens, the No 5 seed, next.

In the previous rounds, the 22-year-old American won against Croat qualifier Ana Konjuh (6-3, 6-2) and Czech Katerina Siniakova, the No 7 seed (7-5, 6-2).

Jabeur, ranked No 2, defeated American Ann Li (6-2, 6-3) and Russian Evgeniya Rodina (6-1, 6-3) earlier in the tournament.
