American Emma Navarro, the second seed, defeated Chinese qualifier Yue Yuan 6-4, 6-3 to advance to the final of the Hobart International at the Hobart ’s Domain Tennis Centre on Friday night.
Navarro, ranked No 31, will play Belgian Elise Mertens, the top seed, next.
Ahead of her victory, the 22-year-old American won against Frenchwoman Clara Burel (4-6, 6-3, 6-3), Pole qualifier Magdalena Frech (6-3, 6-3) and Bulgarian lucky loser Viktoriya Tomova (4-6, 6-3, 6-2).
Yuan, ranked No 73, won against American Sloane Stephens (6-4, 3-6, 7-6 (5)), No 4 seed Xinyu Wang (7-5, 6-3) and Kazakh qualifier Yulia Putintseva (7-5, 7-6 (4)) earlier in the tournament.
