It looks like all systems go for Rafael Nadal and Wimbledon after the 22-time Grand Slam champion came through a second grass-court warm-up match unscathed on Froday.
Nadal lost an exhibition, 7-6, 4-6, 10-3 to Felix Auger-Aliassime but having been on crutches shortly after his French Open triumph, he showed no signs of discomfort following the radiofrequency injections in his left foot.
The two men could yet meet again in the last eight at Wimbledon but Nadal pronounced himself satisfied.
“The goal is achieved,” Nadal said in a courtside interview at the Hurlingham Club in west London.
“It was great to play an amazing player like Felix. Today he was a little bit better than me but it has been a positive few days.”
Nadal said he would now continue his preparations for Wimbledon, which begins on Monday.
“I have not played on this surface for three years so every day is a chance and an opportunity. I hope to be (100 percent) ready for the start of the tournament.”
Nadal, who is trying to win the third leg of the calendar-year Grand Slam, having won in Australia and France, will begin his campaign against Francisco Cerundolo of Argentina on Tuesday.
