It was one of the key parts of his post-match press conference, after Nick Kyrgios qualified for the quarter-finals at Wimbledon. In a heated dispute with a reporter (well, the reporter was heated and Kyrgios looked nonplussed) was asked why he took the initiative to wear a red cap and his red Jordans on the Centre Court for the live interview, a place where players are required to wear white.
We quote directly from the Q&A, and find that Kyrgios feels ready to assume the consequences.
“
We all know the Wimbledon dress code rules are very strict. Competitors must be dressed in suitable tennis attire that's almost entirely white, and this applies from the point at which the player enters the court. Why would you walk on Centre Court with bright red trainers on and do an interview in a red cap?
Kyrgios : Because I do what I want.
You're above the rules?
Kyrgios : No, I’m not above the rules.
They don't apply to you?
Kyrgios : I just like wearing my Jordans.
That’s okay. I’ll wear some Triple Whites tomorrow.

But there are rules specifically against that. I don't want to spoil the surprise, but the referees are going to be speaking to you about it afterwards.
Kyrgios : That’s okay. I’ll wear some Triple Whites tomorrow.
Everyone else in both draws…
Kyrgios : No one else. Even after Wimbledon, no one else really walks with Jordans on the court.
You just moaned about the controversy that surrounds you.
Kyrgios : I don’t moan. I love it.
“
Kyrgios will meet Cristian Garin on Wednesday.
