Italian Lorenzo Sonego reached the semi-finals of the Metz Open by winning against American Sebastian Korda 6-4, 6-4 at Arènes de Metz on Friday afternoon.
Sonego, ranked No 65, will play the winner of the match between Frenchman Arthur Rinderknech and Pole Hubert Hurkacz, the second seed, next.
The Italian beat Russian Aslan Karatsev, the No 6 seed (7-5, 6-3) and French wildcard Gilles Simon (7-6 (2), 6-4) earlier in the tournament.
In the previous rounds of the Metz, Korda, ranked No 49, defeated Frenchman Hugo Gaston (6-3, 7-6 (2)) and Italian Lorenzo Musetti, the No 3 seed (6-3, 7-6 (6)).
