Fritz to face Kyrgios in Tokyo last eight
Taylor Fritz edged out Hiroki Moriya 6-1, 3-6, 6-4 on Thursday. He’ll face Australian Nick Kyrgios, the No 5 seed, in the next round

American Taylor Fritz, the No 3 seed, advanced to the last eight of the Japan Open by edging out Japanese lucky loser Hiroki Moriya 6-1, 3-6, 6-4 at the Ariake Colosseum in Tokyo on Thursday.
Fritz, ranked No 11, will face Australian Nick Kyrgios, the No 5 seed, next.
In the previous round of the Tokyo Open, the American won against Australian James Duckworth (6-2, 6-7 (2), 6-1).
Moriya, ranked No 253, defeated qualifier Yuta Shimizu (6-1, 6-3) in the first round of the Tokyo Open.

- Borna Coric (9) beat Brandon Nakashima: 7-5, 6-2

- Frances Tiafoe (4) beat Bernabe Zapata Miralles: 6-1, 7-6 (7)
- Pedro Martinez beat Jaume Munar: 4-6, 6-3, 6-1
- SoonWoo Kwon beat Mackenzie McDonald: 6-3, 6-7 (4), 6-2
