Merida Open: Siniakova to meet Giorgi in semi-finals

Czech Katerina Siniakova, the No 4 seed, defeated Italian Elisabetta Cocciaretto, the No 7 seed, 6-1, 5-7, 6-0 to move into the semi-finals of the Mérida Open at the Yucatan Country Club on Friday.
Earlier in the tournament, the Czech had benefited from the retirement of Ukrainian qualifier Lesia Tsurenko (7-5) and defeated Belgian Ysaline Bonaventure (6-0, 7-5).
Earlier in the tournament, Cocciaretto, ranked No 54, beat Swiss Viktorija Golubic (6-0, 6-3) and Chinese Xinyu Wang (6-4, 6-2).
Siniakova, ranked No 47, will face Italian Camila Giorgi next.

- Rebecca Peterson (Q) beat Magda Linette (1): 6-2, 6-4
