Monterrey Open: Bonaventure advances to last eight; meets third seed Vekic next

Belgian Ysaline Bonaventure won against Russian qualifier Kamilla Rakhimova 7-6 (2), 1-6, 6-3 to advance to the quarter-finals of the Monterrey Open at the Estadio GNP Seguros on Wednesday.
Bonaventure, ranked No 96, will play third seed Donna Vekic next. The Croatian defeated American wildcard Emma Navarro in straight sets
The Belgian defeated Greek qualifier Despina Papamichail (7-6 (5), 4-6, 6-1) in the previous round of the Monterrey tournament.
Rakhimova, ranked No 97, had edged out Czech Katerina Siniakova, the No 6 seed (7-6 (6), 2-6, 7-6 (5)) earlier in the week.
