Russian Anna Kalinskaya defeated American lucky loser Coco Vandeweghe 6-3, 6-1 to advance to the last eight of the Austin Open at the Westwood Country Club on Thursday.
Kalinskaya, ranked No 67, will play No 4 seed Danielle Collins next. Ahead of her victory, the Russian beat Japanese lucky loser Nao Hibino (6-4, 3-6, 6-2).
Vandeweghe, ranked No 136, edged out qualifier Robin Montgomery (6-2, 6-7 (3), 7-6 (3)) in the previous round of the tournament.
