Fritz sets up quarter-final clash with defending champion Tsitsipas in Monte-Carlo

American Taylor Fritz, the No 8 seed, reached the quarter-finals of the Monte-Carlo Masters by beating Czech Jiri Lehecka 4-6, 6-4, 6-1 at Monte-Carlo Country Club on Thursday afternoon.

Fritz, ranked No 10, will play Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas, the second seed, next.

The American won against Swiss wildcard Stan Wawrinka (7-6 (10), 6-2) in the previous round of the Monte-Carlo tournament.

Earlier in the tournament, Lehecka, ranked No 42, defeated Finnish lucky loser Emil Ruusuvuori (6-1, 7-5) and Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov (7-6 (4), 6-4).
