Dutchman Botic van de Zandschulp, the No 4 seed, won against American Marcos Giron (7-6 (5), 6-3) to advance to the semi-finals of the BMW Open at the MTTC Iphitos complex in Munich on Friday.
Van de Zandschulp, ranked No 29, will play American Taylor Fritz, the second seed, next.
The Dutchman defeated Russian qualifier Aslan Karatsev (6-2, 6-0) in the previous round of the Munich Open.
In the previous rounds of the Munich Open, Giron, ranked No 68, beat Spaniard Roberto Carballes Baena, the No 7 seed (6-1, 5-7, 6-2) and Swiss qualifier Alexander Ritschard (4-6, 6-3, 6-3).
