Adelaide Open: Alexandrova takes out top seed Rybakina, books spot in semi-finals

Russian Ekaterina Alexandrova won against Kazakh Elena Rybakina, the top seed, 6-3, 6-3 to advance to the semi-finals of the Adelaide Open at the Memorial Drive Tennis Park on Thursday.
Alexandrova has now won all three of her meetings against Rybakina on hard court.
Alexandrova, ranked No 21, will face Latvian Jelena Ostapenko, the No 6 seed, next.
Earlier in the tournament, the Russian edged out Pole Magda Linette (3-6, 7-6 (8), 7-5) and beat No 8 seed Veronika Kudermetova (6-4, 6-4).
Rybakina, ranked No 3, defeated Spanish lucky loser Cristina Bucsa (6-3, 7-5) in the previous round of the Adelaide tournament.
