Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova defeated American qualifier Danielle Collins 7-5, 6-4 to advance to the last 4 of the Qatar Open at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex in Doha.
Pavlyuchenkova, ranked No 32, will face the winner of the match between Canadian Leylah Fernandez and Kazakh Elena Rybakina, the No 3 seed, next.
The Russian won against No 11 seed Daria Kasatkina (6-2, 7-6 (2)), Ukrainian Marta Kostyuk (2-1 ret.) and No 6 seed Marketa Vondrousova (7-5, 6-3) in the previous rounds of the Qatar tournament.
Earlier in the tournament, Collins, ranked No 63, won against Russian Veronika Kudermetova, the No 13 seed (7-5, 6-3), Marie Bouzkova (6-4, 7-5) and Katerina Siniakova (6-4, 6-3).
