Puerto Vallarta Open: Wildcard Preston advances to final

Australian wildcard Taylah Preston upset Argentine Maria Lourdes Carle, the No 5 seed, 6-2, 6-2 to advance to the final of the Puerto Vallarta Open on Saturday.
Preston, ranked No 192, will play lucky loser Mccartney Kessler for the title on Sunday. The Australian is through to her sixth career final but the first at the WTA $125K level.
The 18-year-old Australian won against Spaniard Nuria Parrizas Diaz (6-4, 6-1), Argentinian Julia Riera, the No 8 seed (2-6, 7-5, 6-4) and Ukrainian Yulia Starodubtseva (7-5, 6-4) ahead of her win today.
In the previous rounds, Carle, ranked No 106, defeated Frenchwoman Chloe Paquet (6-3, 6-2), American Catherine McNally (0-6, 6-2, 6-3) and Spaniard Jessica Bouzas Maneiro (4-6, 6-4, 6-2).
