Auckland Open: Monfils reaches second round

Frenchman Gael Monfils won against Spaniard Pedro Martinez Portero 1-6, 7-6 (5), 6-3 to move into the second round of the Auckland Open at the ASB Tennis Arena on Tuesday.

Monfils, ranked No 52, will play German Jan-Lennard Struff next.
