American Taylor Fritz, the No 3 seed, advanced to the quarter-finals of the Rothesay International Eastbourne by winning against Brazilian qualifier Thiago Moura Monteiro 7-5, 6-3 on Wednesday afternoon.
Fritz, ranked No 14, will face the winner of the match between Kazakh Alexander Bublik and Australian qualifier John Millman next.
In the previous round, Monteiro, ranked No 94, edged out Frenchman Ugo Humbert (6-7 (2), 6-3, 6-4).
