Félix Auger-Aliassime has reclaimed his dominant indoor form, storming into the ABN AMRO Open semifinals and extending his current winning streak to seven matches. The second-seeded Canadian, who claimed the title here in 2022, continued his surge following last week’s trophy run in Montpellier with a clinical 7-6 (2), 6-2 victory over the Netherlands’ Tallon Griekspoor on Friday evening.
The match remained on a knife-edge throughout a tense opening set, but the momentum shifted during the tiebreak where Auger-Aliassime’s serving precision took over.
Early in the second set, the atmosphere in the Rotterdam Ahoy shifted as Tallon Griekspoor was forced to call for a medical timeout to receive treatment on his right shoulder. Upon the resumption of play, the Dutchman’s physical struggles became evident. Auger-Aliassime, leading 3-2 and set to serve, never looked back, winning the final four games to seal the victory.
The result marks a bittersweet evening for the local fans, as the two remaining Dutch players are now out of the singles draw. Earlier in the day, Botic van de Zandschulp fell in a heartbreaking three-set battle to top seed Alex de Minaur.
Auger-Aliassime, now certain to be ranked No. 6 in the world, looks formidable as he returns to the final four in Rotterdam for the first time since his championship run. He will next face the mercurial Alexander Bublik, who outlasted Jaume Munar in a late-night thriller.
