Machac takes out Tien in Acapulco quarter-finals
Tomas Machac defeated Learner Tien in straight sets on Thursday in Acapulco. Machac awaits either Brandon Nakashima or David Goffin in the semi-finals.

No 8 seed Tomas Machac advanced to the last four of the Mexican Open by beating American qualifier Learner Tien 6-3, 7-5 at the Arena GNP Seguros in Acapulco on Thursday.
Machac, ranked No 25, will next go up against the winner of a match between American Brandon Nakashima and Belgian David Goffin.
Earlier in the tournament, the Czech beat Jakub Mensik (6-4, 2-6, 6-3) and German wild card Daniel Altmaier (7-6 (3), 6-1).
Tien, ranked No 83, reached the quarter-finals by defeating Cameron Norrie (7-6 (5), 6-3) and German Alexander Zverev, the top seed (6-3, 6-4).
