Spaniard Roberto Carballes Baena beat second seed Daniel Evans 2-6, 6-4, 6-2 to advance to the final of the Marrakech Open at the Royal Tennis Club de Marrakech on Saturday afternoon.

Carballes Baena, ranked No 82, will play the winner of the match between Frenchman Alexandre Muller and Russian Pavel Kotov next.

Earlier in the tournament, the Spaniard won against American Maxime Cressy, the No 5 seed (6-7 (4), 6-3, 6-1), Bulgarian qualifier Dimitar Kuzmanov (2-0 ret.) and Dutchman Tallon Griekspoor, the No 4 seed (6-3, 2-6, 6-2).

Evans, ranked No 30, defeated Australian Alexei Popyrin (6-1, 6-3) and Italian qualifier Andrea Vavassori (6-3, 7-5) in the previous rounds of the Moroccan Open.
