Jakub Mensik and Mariano Navone woke up on Monday morning with a place in the world’s top 100 for the first time in their careers after breakthrough weeks on the ATP Tour.

The outstanding run of 18-year-old Mensik to the final in Doha – beating Andy Murray, Andrey Rublev and Gael Monfils before losing out to Karen Khachanov – sees him rise 29 places to a career-high No 87.

Navone, who qualified for the main draw in Rio and beat defending champion Cam Norrie to reach the final, soars 53 places to No 60, a ranking that will ensure him direct entry into most Masters 1000 events this year.

The top 10 remain unchanged, with Novak Djokovic still on top as he begins a record 414th week as No 1, but Sebastian Baez, the winner in Rio, rises to a new career-high ranking of 21, up nine places.

New career highs

Jordan Thompson’s first ATP Tour title in Los Cabos, where he beat Casper Ruud in the final, puts him up eight places to another career-high of No 40. Ruud moves up one place to No 11.

Alexei Popyrin is another man to enjoy a new career-high ranking, the Aussie moving up eight places to No 32 after reaching the semis in Doha. Title-winner Khachanov is up two places to No 15.

And Monfils moved back towards the top 50 after also reaching the semis in Doha, the 37-year-old Frenchman climbing 14 places to No 54.

One man moving the other way, though, is Murray, the former world No 1 dropping down 17 places to No 67 after losing in round two in Doha, having reached the final last year.
