Italian wildcard Fabio Fognini beat Brazilian Thiago Seyboth Wild 7-6 (3), 7-6 (9) to reach the second round of the Metz Open at Arènes de Metz on Tuesday.
Fognini, ranked No 147, will face No 5 seed Alexander Bublik next. It was the former top-10 player’s first win on the ATP Tour since Roland-Garros.
