Austrian Dominic Thiem won against French lucky loser Matteo Martineau 6-4, 6-2 to advance to the second round of the Metz Open at Arènes de Metz on Monday evening.
Thiem, ranked No 95, will play No 4 seed Ugo Humbert next.
