Russian Rublev ends Struff run to reach semi-finals in Monte-Carlo

Russian Andrey Rublev, the No 5 seed, won against German qualifier Jan-Lennard Struff 6-1, 7-6 (5) to move into the semi-finals of the Monte-Carlo Masters at Monte-Carlo Country Club on Friday.

Rublev, ranked No 6, will face the winner of the match between American Taylor Fritz, the No 8 seed, and Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas, the second seed, next.

The Russian defeated Spaniard Jaume Munar (4-6, 6-2, 6-2) and No 9 seed Karen Khachanov (7-6 (4), 6-2) earlier in the tournament.

In the previous rounds, Struff, ranked No 100, won against Spaniard Albert Ramos-Vinolas (6-4, 6-3), Australian Alex de Minaur, the No 14 seed (6-3, 6-2) and Norwegian Casper Ruud, the No 4 seed (6-1, 7-6 (6)).
