Pune Open: Griekspoor into semis as Cilic withdraws with knee injury

Tallon Griekspoor benefitted from the forfeit of Marin Čilić on Thursday and will play Russian Aslan Karatsev, the No 8 seed, in the next round

Dutchman Tallon Griekspoor moved into the last four of the Pune Open after Croat Marin Čilić, the top seed, withdrew before the match on Thursday at the Mhalunge Balewadi Tennis Complex.

Griekspoor, ranked No 95, will play Russian Aslan Karatsev, the No 8 seed, next.

In the previous rounds of the Tata Open, the Dutchman defeated Spaniard Jaume Munar, the No 7 seed (6-4, 7-5) and Italian Marco Cecchinato (6-4, 6-4).

Čilić, ranked No 17, won against Spaniard Roberto Carballes Baena (6-3, 3-6, 6-1) in the previous round of the Tata Open.
