Queen’s: Peniston upsets top seed Ruud in grass court opener

Ryan Peniston upset top seed Casper Ruud 7-6 (4), 7-6 (2) on Tuesday afternoon to score the biggest win o his career

World No 5 and recent Roland-Garros finalist Casper Ruud had a poor start to his grass court season with an opening round loss at Queen’s Club in London on Tuesday.

Ruud, the top seed this week, was defeated 7-6 (4), 7-6 (2) by wildcard Ryan Peniston, who came through with the biggest win of his career.

Ranked No 180 in the world, Peniston is through to face Argentine Francisco Cerundolo, who defeated Spain’s Pedro Martinez 6-3, 6-2 in one hour and 31 minutes..
